SPOTLIGHT ON SUBSCRIBER

Introducing: Spotlight on Subscriber!

I love talking all things travel, but even more than that, I love learning from fellow travelers like you. That’s why I’m kicking off Spotlight on Subscriber - a chance to share your travel stories, wins, and lessons with our community.

Have an unforgettable trip, a genius travel hack, or even a cautionary tale? I’d love to feature it! Send me your story, and you might just see it in an upcoming email. Because the best way to explore the world is by learning from each other.

Read what one subscriber had to say about the car service from an affiliate of mine: GetTransfer.com

"We had an awesome experience with GetTransfer! The booking process was seamless—I arranged everything online and then downloaded the app. I highly recommend using the app, as the company communicates directly through it, making everything super convenient.

Our group included two adults, a 12-year-old, and a 4-year-old. I requested a car seat for my youngest, which only cost a couple of extra dollars. In total, our roundtrip transfer was just $84.88—at least $10 cheaper than other transportation options I researched.

One of the best features was the ability to book both our arrival and return transfers in a single reservation. With other companies, I would have needed to make two separate bookings.

When we landed, we cleared customs, walked outside, and found our driver waiting with a sign displaying my name. I really appreciated the option to request both a personalized sign and an English-speaking driver.

The vehicle was an 8-person Volkswagen van—clean, spacious, and well-maintained. The car seat was in excellent condition, with no stains or food crumbs, which was a huge plus. Our driver was incredibly friendly and polite.

On the day of our departure, we received an app message detailing exactly where to meet our driver at the hotel. It was the same driver as before, and he arrived 20 minutes early, which we really appreciated.

Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would give GetTransfer a solid 5-star rating. Highly recommend!"

FLY TO EUROPE FOR THE COST OF A FANCY BRUNCH

If you signed up for Daily Drop like I recommended in one of my last email broadcasts, you would have seen this week that Flying Blue (Codeshare program through KLM, Air France, BritishAirways, Westjet and Delta) has an AMAZING points redemption event going on!

Mike from Daily Drop says:

"Flying Blue is back with another batch of dirt-cheap flights to Europe—aka, your chance to book a summer trip for the price of a fancy brunch."

✈️ Go to Europe from the US

for just 18,750 points

Flying Blue was how I booked 4 airline tickets from Milan to Paris FOR FREE this January.

How I do it: I add in my Flying Blue account number when I'm booking flights (mostly through Westjet & Delta) and they accumulate without me even thinking about it!

🍁If you're Canadian, and are able to fly out of Ottawa - you can book a BUSINESS CLASS SEAT to Paris for 45,000 Flying Blue miles!

If you're new to Flying Blue, it's also possible to transfer points from basically any bank on a 1:1 ratio. Flying Blue point redemptions are one of my most FAVORITE TRAVEL HACKS!

✈️SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GO SIGN UP FOR FLYING BLUE TODAY!

HOW WE ATE AT A MICHELIN STAR RESTAURANT FOR HALF THE PRICE

🚨What if I told you that you could dine at a Michelin-star restaurant for the price of a casual dinner? 🚨

No secret VIP access, no tricks. Just a simple travel hack that works almost anywhere.

How I do it:

On a trip to Colmar, France, my family wanted to experience fine French dining but without the steep dinner prices. So, we did something I always recommend: we booked a lunch reservation instead of dinner.

Many high-end restaurants offer a similar menu at a fraction of the cost, and our meal was incredible; without the sticker shock.

(Notice below how much quieter it is too - this is ideal if you're traveling with kids)

Budget Hack:

Of course, we don’t splurge every day. One of my favorite ways to keep food costs low while traveling is by grocery shopping like a local.

It’s more than a budget hack—it’s a fun way to discover unique flavors that never make it onto restaurant menus. Before every trip, I research local grocery stores so we can enjoy authentic food without the markup.

You Can Do It Too:

Another trick I love? The Too Good To Go app. It lets you grab heavily discounted meals from bakeries, restaurants, and grocery stores at the end of the day. We’ve fed our family for as little as $5 while reducing food waste—a win-win.

Want to make food a highlight of your travels without blowing your budget? Try these three simple steps:

1️⃣ Eat like a local—shop at grocery stores for unique, affordable finds.
2️⃣ Book lunch instead of dinner—luxury for less.
3️⃣ Use food apps like Too Good To Go for huge savings.

Food is part of the adventure, and with a little strategy, you can eat well and save money. Where’s the best meal you’ve had while traveling? Hit reply and let me know!

Bon appétit,

Tanya
